Severe Weather Information

A tornado/severe thunderstorm WATCH means that tornadoes and severe thunderstorms are possible. In the event of a WATCH notification, you should remain alert and make plans for where you will go to take shelter in the event of a tornado/severe thunderstorm WARNING.

A tornado/severe thunderstorm WARNING means that tornadoes or severe thunderstorms have been sighted within the warning area.

• If you are INSIDE, go to the lowest level of the building. Spaces that provide protection can include interior hallways, closets, and bathrooms. Protect yourself from glass and other flying objects by couching low, putting your head down, and protecting the back of your head with your arms. Stay away from windows or glass doors.
• If you are OUTSIDE, hurry to the lowest level of a nearby building or lie flat in a ditch or low-lying area if you cannot get inside.
• If you are in a VEHICLE, get out immediately and head for safety (as above).
• Stay in a safe place and wait for an “all clear” alert.
